Specialist Mesh Ceilings Enhance Aesthetics and Wayfinding at Geelong Arts Centre
The Geelong Arts Centre showcases SAS International’s dedication to architectural quality and aesthetic design. In collaboration with MBS Architectural and the project team at Hassell architects, we provided internal SAS205 hook-on metal ceilings as well as reinforced SAS320 external ceiling tiles to provide a continuation of dynamic mesh from the entrance to performance spaces.
By integrating advanced ceiling systems into the centre’s design, Hassell created a space that not only looks stunning but allows essential service integration and access. Our external products are highly engineered to ensure climate adaptation and safety for public zones. Specified in RAL 9003 Signal White throughout, the light and bright theme provides wayfinding for the thousands of visitors who use the arts space.
The redevelopment of the Geelong Arts Centre was part of a major transformation project aimed at revitalising one of Victoria’s premier performing arts venues. The ambitious project included expanding the performance spaces, upgrading the facilities, and creating attractive interior and exterior facades that reflect the centre's cultural significance within the region.
Other key features of the redevelopment project included adding flexible seating arrangements, and multipurpose spaces to accommodate a wide range of performances and events. The design combined modern elements with materials that pay homage to the historic character of Geelong, including glass facades and innovative cladding solutions that create a visually striking appearance.
