Curves, Craft and Character: SAS System 600 at Senex’s New Office
At Senex’s Queensland office, the ceiling goes beyond function and embodies the brand’s industrial heritage. Drawing inspiration from the flowing curves of pipework found on-site, the design by Architectus features a sculptural, transparent ceiling that visually links the workplace with Senex’s operational roots. SHAPE executed the build on the project whilst Citibuild managed the installation.
When approached with the design render, SAS International’s Australia were selected via distribution partner, MBS Architecture to turn the vision into reality. The custom configured SAS600 Ceiling Raft System was created with pre-formed curved panels with hook-on connections to form sweeping arcs. This approach ensured precision and constructability even within an active working environment.
To preserve the visual continuity and transparency of the design, our team also engineered bespoke bulkhead closure panels. These additions enabled seamless transitions between curved and flat ceiling planes that delivered a fluid, uninterrupted visual expression.
The result is a dynamic, sculptural ceiling that embodies Senex’s identity including coordinated lighting, shadow play and thoughtful material integration. The SAS600 ceiling system adds rhythm, depth and an unmistakable sense of purpose to the space.
