SAS International has supplied its metal ceilings to many iconic buildings adorning the London skyline. 20 Fenchurch Street, otherwise known as the ‘Walkie Talkie’, designed by the world renowned architect Rafael Vinoly is no exception. 39,000m² SAS130 Alugrid Q 15/16 was specified across 28 floors of premium office space including the offices of major insurance providers Markel and Liberty. The chosen system was used to future proof the offices and answer the demand for a flexible solution. SAS130 also ensures room to room acoustic privacy up to 45dB.
SAS worked with 10 different architect and design firms and 12 ceiling contractors in total on the first building in London’s square mile to incorporate the latest energy generating technology. The building has received an Excellent BREEAM rating.
For the Markel offices, to differentiate the public areas, SAS740 Boxline has been installed in all break out areas and the canteen. As well as the aesthetic advantage, the boxline has been installed with an acoustic metal panel behind to control noise levels within the high traffic areas.
Developed by a joint venture partnership between two of the UK’s leading property companies in Canary Wharf Group and Land Securities, 20 Fenchurch Street provides unrivalled panoramic views of London.
